We are honored to announce that Evan Ryan, Cabinet Secretary for the White House, is a keynote speaker at the Global Ties U.S. 2024 National Meeting and will deliver remarks Thursday, March 7. She joins Ambassador Nina Hachigian, U.S. Special Representative for City and State Diplomacy, and Global Ties U.S. 2024 Citizen Diplomat Awardees Daisy Khan and the Rid-All Green Partnership for the plenary session: Raising Community Voices, which celebrates how local leaders are serving their communities by connecting them with the world and building the effective global partnerships we need today.
Evan Ryan is a U.S. public servant who began her White House career during the Clinton Administration, where she worked as Deputy Director of Scheduling for First Lady Hillary Clinton and as Special Assistant to the First Lady’s Chief of Staff. She also served under the Obama Administration as the Assistant Secretary of State for Educational and Cultural Affairs, and as Assistant to the Vice President and Special Assistant to the President for International Government Affairs and Public Engagement just before that.
After leaving the White House in January 2017, she served as the Executive Vice President at Axios, a news website founded by three former Politico journalists. In 2021, she began her tenure under the Biden Administration, serving first as Senior Adviser to the Biden Transition, and now in her current role as the Cabinet Secretary for the Office of Cabinet Affairs — which is the primary liaison between the President and his Cabinet, and coordinates communications, policy, and logistics among the White House, Members of the Cabinet, and senior staff.
The Global Ties U.S. National Meeting is the premier annual gathering of international exchange and public diplomacy professionals and supporters from government agencies, the private sector, nonprofit organizations, and academia. The 2024 National Meeting theme is Diplomacy in Action: Raising Community Voices.
