Seth Goldman co-founded Honest Tea out of his home in 1998 with Barry Nalebuff of the Yale School of Management, and from the beginning they were committed to social responsibility, including sourcing ingredients from organic farms and reinvesting in those communities.

In recognition of his efforts to use and promote business practices that foster social and economic development across the world, Global Ties U.S. will honor Seth Goldman with the 2016 Citizen Diplomat Award at our National Meeting.
Under Seth’s leadership, the company has initiated community-based partnerships with its Fair Trade Certified™ suppliers in India, China, South Africa. In addition to being named one of The Better World Shopping Guide’s “Ten Best Companies on the Planet based on their overall social and environmental record,” Honest Tea was ranked by The Huffington Post as one of the leading “8 Revolutionary Socially Responsible Companies.” He and Barry also co-authored a graphic novel on how they did it called “Mission in a Bottle.”
