WASHINGTON, DC — Global Ties U.S. presented its Excellence in Programming Awards to five individuals as part of the Global Ties U.S. National Meeting in Washington, DC on January 29. Recipients of the award are selected by their peers in recognition of their valuable contributions to the U.S. Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program, citizen diplomacy, and the field of international exchange. They are individuals who consistently exhibit the creativity, commitment, diligence, flexibility, and professionalism that make international exchange a key tool in building a more peaceful, prosperous world.
Recipients of the 2016 Global Ties U.S. Excellence in Programming Awards are:
- Tessa Carter, Northern California World Trade Center, Sacramento, CA – Outstanding Community-based Organization Programmer Award (Paid Staff)
- Maureen Hurley, World Affairs Council of Maine, Portland, ME – Outstanding Community-based Organization Volunteer Programmer Award
- Alexander Gorev, Institute of International Education – Outstanding National Program Agency (NPA) Programmer
- Marek Kuzma – Outstanding International Visitor Liaison
- Adel Salama, Arabic Interpreter – Outstanding Interpreter
