Global Ties U.S. is pleased to share that our Community-Based Member in Lincoln is rebranding to Global Ties Nebraska. The new name will better represent the impact and work of the organization as a local hub for global engagement, and reinvigorate the organization as they look ahead to a milestone anniversary in 2026.
Community-Based Member organizations of the Global Ties Network provide the domestic infrastructure for U.S. public diplomacy efforts, annually connecting more than 4,000 current and emerging global leaders to U.S. counterparts through exchanges like the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP), our country’s foundational professional exchange.
“We are excited to work with Global Ties Nebraska in this next chapter of their organization,” said Global Ties U.S. President & CEO Katherine A. Brown, Ph.D. “For almost 60 years, they have created tangible local impact through international exchange. This work benefits Nebraska’s economy, develops its workforce’s professional skills and networks, and increases local engagement in support of U.S. foreign policy priorities.”
Global Ties Nebraska, formerly the Lincoln Council for International Visitors, was created in 1966 out of a mayoral committee to welcome international leaders to the heartland. Global Ties Nebraska continues to work with the City of Lincoln’s Mayor’s Office to promote cultural connections and citizen diplomacy.
“The benefits of rebranding are multifaceted and essential for the continued growth and impact of our organization,” said Crystal Bock Theissen, Executive Director of Global Ties Nebraska. “With this new name, we’ll be able to better elevate our work to promote global understanding through people-to-people exchange and enhance our local and national impact.”
