What is Advocacy Day?
Every year, as part of our National Meeting week, Global Ties Network members come to Washington, DC to speak up for exchanges on Capitol Hill.
The Global Ties Network Advocacy Day in 2025 took place on February 18. Representatives from our Community-Based Member organizations across the country engaged 300 offices on Capitol Hill – a record turnout for the Global Ties Network.
How does it work?
All Global Ties Network Community-Based Member organizations attending the National Meeting are encouraged to participate in Advocacy Day by setting up your own meetings with your Members of Congress and using the materials and talking points you receive from Global Ties U.S. to speak up for international exchange on Capitol Hill.
You can register for Advocacy Day as part of the overall National Meeting registration process.
We provide a template to support your outreach to your congressional office, and we will provide packets of advocacy materials for your meetings.
To learn more about how to prepare for the day, see our Advocacy 101 section.
To find factsheets and other materials for use in your Advocacy Day meetings, see Advocacy Resources.

“This was my first time to participate in Advocacy Day, and now that I have, I can’t wait to do it again. It felt really good to speak up for something I so strongly believe in.”
